Landgoed The Witrijt

Landgoed de Witrijt has been owned by Staatsbosbeheer since 1971. De Witrijt belonged to the NV Landgoed De Witrijt + Bosserheide, owned by the Claessen-Laumans family. A small part of this estate is still owned by this family. To show their status, large avenues of American oak were often laid out. They had several fruit and timber companies here. The estate counted 480Ha in the vicinity of Bergeijk, Postel, Bladel and a small part in Belgium. During the Second World War, this estate was used by the family to successfully move Jews unseen to safe Belgium.
